Description:
This session brings together architectural school administrators to discuss how architecture schools and researchers are addressing environmental impact through building technologies, embodied carbon, material innovation, fabrication, and performance-based design education. Conversations will explore emerging pedagogies, curricular initiatives, interdisciplinary collaborations, and research approaches that advance sustainability at the scale of the building and material system. The session invites dialogue on how architectural education can prepare future designers to engage critically with environmental responsibility, technical innovation, and sustainable construction practices.

Opening Keynote

1 AIA/CES LU

Elizabeth Bowie Christoforetti聽is associate professor in practice of architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where she directs the Laboratory for Values in the Built Environment, and founding principal of Supernormal, an architecture and urban design studio based in Cambridge, MA. She founded Supernormal to create meaningful and practical change through the intersection of architecture, urbanism, technology, and contemporary culture. Elizabeth directs Supernormal as an engaged design practice that meets the world exactly as it is, and with a glass that is half full.

Jacob Reidel聽examines and advances the purpose, value, and potential of architectural practice. His activities鈥攕panning practice, research, publication, and teaching鈥攊nvestigate how architectural practice is designed, how professional institutions shape the built environment, and how the discipline adapts to shifting social, political, economic, and technological conditions.
