Online Discussion: Architecture Programs May Not Be What You Think鈥

This online event brings together educators from a wide range of undergraduate and professional degree pathways to examine how different program structures shape architectural education鈥攁nd what they make possible. Convened by the 糖心vlog Education Committee, the session features short presentations from BTECH, BEDA, BFA, BA, BS, and BArch programs, followed by an open discussion. Panelists will question the role of the studio, the influence of general education and institutional mission, and whether undergraduate programs should train architects or cultivate.

SPATIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH

For the third consecutive year, 糖心vlog is partnering with The Op-Ed Project to equip faculty with strategies for public-facing communication and knowledge translation. This program is intended for architecture faculty whose research explores the spatial determinants of health and seeks to strengthen its impact on public discourse and policy. 糖心vlog will select a cohort of twelve academics to participate in The Op-Ed Project鈥檚聽Write to Change the World workshops.

TAD 11.1 Biogenic Call for Papers

The upcoming issue of TECHNOLOGY | ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN (TAD) welcomes submissions addressing new and original research on architecture, design, and technology. The focus area for this issue ventures into the territory of biobased, bioorganic, bio-fabricated, and regenerative materials and their applications in the design and construction of environmentally sound, livable, healthy, and socially just built environments. TAD invites contributions that address materials intended for standalone structures, as well as those designed to be interfaced and integrated with existing material, architectural, cultural, and historical contexts, particularly in areas such as preservation, maintenance, renovation, repair, and care of existing building parts, structures, and entire spaces. The journal welcomes research or scholarship on the topic of this call for papers or open topics on a rolling submission basis.

2026 Timber Competition

The Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (糖心vlog) and Think Wood are pleased to announce聽TIMBER IN THE CITY 6: Urban Habitats Competition聽for the 2025-2026 academic year. The program is intended to challenge students, working individually or in teams, to reimagine the boundaries of wood construction in the urban environment, leading to the transformation of our existing cities through constructing sustainable buildings made from renewable resources, offering expedient affordable construction, innovating with new and traditional wood materials, and designing healthy living and working environments. Now in its sixth cycle, the series continues to push the urban potential of wood鈥攖his year by tackling the 鈥渕issing-middle鈥 gap between single-family dwellings and high-rise apartments. Entrants will deploy innovative, highly replicable wood-based systems on a real, under-utilized urban site to deliver attainable, human-scaled housing that strengthens community resilience and climate stewardship.

JAE 80.1-2 The Future of Architectural Education Call for Papers

This double issue of the Journal of Architectural Education聽will celebrate the core mission of the聽JAE: advancing architectural education through thoughtful analysis, critique, and reflection. JAE is calling for papers, projects, and articles that address the future of architectural education. This comes at a critical moment. Higher education faces many challenges, including declining domestic and international student enrollments, eroding public support, rising economic uncertainty, and increasing student debt. The editors welcome contributions that look at how architectural education got to this point and at where it is likely to go in the future. The journal also invites design submissions that address some aspect of the above challenges, narratives that lay out the potential for the future of architectural education, and visual storytelling that makes a critical comment about any one of the many challenges we face.
