New York City
New York City (NYC), is the most populous city in the United States. It is located at the southern tip of New York State on New York Harbor, one of the world’s largest natural harbors. The city comprises five boroughs, each coextensive with its respective county. While Manhattan and Staten Island are islands, Brooklyn and Queens are geographically part of Long Island, and the Bronx is attached to the US mainland. The boroughs are linked by bridges, tunnels and ferries. Except at its northern and southern tips, Manhattan follows a grid pattern where avenues run roughly north and south, and streets run east and west.
New York City is an intersection of world cultures, each of which plays a part in its inimitable dynamism. More than 200 languages are spoken across 329 neighborhoods, making it one of the most vibrant and diverse places on the planet. But it’s also our unwavering spirit of inclusion that inspires individuals from every walk of life to visit and live in the five boroughs—regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or ability.
