The University of Memphis Department of Architecture Mourns the Loss of Professor Michael Chisamore

Professor Michael Chisamore, RA, NCIDQ, passed away in March 2025.  Michael joined the faculty of the Department of Architecture at the University of Memphis in 2009 after previously teaching at Alfred State College and practicing architecture in New York. At the UofM, Michael served as Director of the Center for Sustainable Design and Director of Interior Architecture.  In addition to his work as a professor, Michael was an award-winning architectural illustrator whose intellect and creativity were matched only by his kindness.  Throughout his career, Michael was awarded numerous accolades, but he was proudest of the remarkable achievements of his students.  To honor his legacy, a special drawing award was established by the Department to be awarded annually to two students selected by a jury of the faculty.
