The Knowlton School of Architecture at The Ohio State University invites applications for a full-time, one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position. This role is intended for scholars working in the history and theory of architecture and related fields, and aligns with the School’s commitment to critical, historical, and theoretical inquiry as a core component of architectural education.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the history and theory of architecture, including lecture courses, seminars, and other offerings aligned with their scholarly expertise. They will develop course content and assignments that support stated student learning outcomes and contribute to a rigorous culture of critical and historical inquiry within the curriculum. In addition, the candidate will engage collaboratively with faculty and students and contribute to the intellectual life of the School through participation in lectures, seminars, workshops, and other academic events, and by supporting public programming when opportunities arise.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • PhD in architectural history, architectural theory, or a closely related field. Candidates who are ABD at the time of application will also be considered.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
